Stories are better if they’re unpredictable. Mary Maloney starts off as an innocent, stay at home wife, but the story takes an unexpected twist when her and her husband, Patrick, have a conversation when he gets home from work. Dahl does a great job of keeping the audience out of the conversation that Mary and Patrick have, we don’t necessarily know what they discuss but it drives Mary to commit a vicious act. After Mary strikes her husband with the lamb chop, she convinces the police officers to have dinner, resulting in the officers eating something that Mary needed to desperately dispose of.
